1. Tell us what is going on
Send the form or call and give us the basics: what the structure is (dock, boat lift, seawall, or pilings), what you are seeing - a leaning piling, a lift that will not hold, spongy decking, a seawall crack or washout behind the cap - and which stretch of water you are on. Waterfront repairs cannot be priced honestly over the phone, so we schedule a free on-site visit at a time that works for you. We look at the actual structure, get in the water if the job calls for it, and give you a straight read on what needs doing now versus what can safely wait a season.

Signs it is worth reaching out sooner
Waterfront structures rarely fail all at once. They give you warning signs for months, and catching them early is the difference between a modest repair and a full rebuild. A few things are worth a message before they get worse. On docks, watch for boards that flex or feel spongy underfoot, nail and screw heads backing out, wobble in the frame when you walk it, and any piling that has started to lean or that shows soft, chewed wood at the waterline - a telltale sign of marine borers working from the inside out. On boat lifts, listen for grinding or straining motors, look for frayed or rusting cables and worn pulleys, and pay attention if the lift no longer holds your boat level or struggles to raise it clear of the water; a lift working that hard is a lift on its way to failing, often at the worst possible moment.
On seawalls, the warnings are in the yard as much as the wall: cracks in the cap, sections that have started to lean or bow toward the water, and low or sinking spots in the lawn behind the wall where soil is quietly washing out through a failing joint or a broken tie-back. Left alone, that washout accelerates, and a seawall repair that could have been straightforward becomes an emergency that takes part of your yard with it. None of these signs means the sky is falling, and often a targeted repair solves the problem for years - but they are all worth a free look while the fix is still small. If a storm has already come through, do not climb on a damaged dock or try to work on a lift under tension yourself; keep clear, and let a crew with the right equipment and insurance handle it safely.
Timing matters too. The calm, drier stretches of the year are the smart window for the bigger jobs - seawall rebuilds, lift replacements, and structural dock work are all easier to stage and schedule when the water and weather cooperate.
